About Us
Extend a Hand - Homeless Outreach non-profit charity was created from the vision of Nadia Bharat, who, one day sitting in church on the feast day of St. Elizabeth, was overwhelmed with a strong heart-felt desire to help the homeless. While this strong emotion filled her heart, she contemplated on how God’s plan was to unfold. She initially kept it to herself but following months of praying decided to tell her story to a small group of friends which she prayed with every day via Zoom. To her surprise, the combining years of experience these women had with helping the homeless were over 60 years in total. Nadia has over 25 years of people management experience and years of volunteering experience. Her friends had years of experience in helping the homeless, feeding the poor, and working with people with disabilities, seniors and young adults, along with abundant years in volunteering their time to various charitable organizations. Coupled with one of them pursuing a Masters in Social Work and another with high level accounting experience made this an incredible partnership. Tears came to their eyes and excitement simultaneously as Nadia’s vision was heard and it was at that moment that the seed was planted for Extend a Hand- Homeless Outreach.
